The government of Argentina launched a tender for renewables while on the other hand it pushes nuclear power and the coal plant, which makes the energy produces the most amount of greenhouse gases, said the Argentina delegate, at the ECOFIN committee meeting held today.
Meanwhile, the development in the sector still faces some bottlenecks, including financing difficulties for businesses and rising operation costs. What will be the solution for Argentina to a more sustainable energy?-asked the France delegate.

Recalling the Sustainable Development Goal no. 5 which promotes gender equality, UN Women released a clear statement on Thursday. The hot unmoderated caucus regarding the topic “Participation of Women in Political, Economical, and Technological Sector” finally comes to a draft resolution which is sponsored by representative of Somalia and representative of Portugal. There are 21 countries representation as the signatories. They are including Ireland, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Nepal, Mexico, Bahrain, Thailand, Uruguay, Togo, Philippines, Chile, South Africa, Georgia, Sweden, China, Denmark, Turkey, Latvia, Portugal, South Korea, Bangladesh, Finland, and Spain.
Representation of countries in UN Women also stated that any kind of sexual harassment including in workplace must be eliminated. “Stereotype that society has tagged for women must be stopped. For example the stigma which saying that women only work at home.” said representative of Somalia during the committee session. Moreover, UN Women emphasizing article 23 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that all members of the society have the right to join the labor force despite their gender. Thus, the United Nations believes in and supports equal rights between men and women.
During the session, gender quota is also being the most interesting solution. The representative of USA ‘slam the door’ because USA is being cons. USA personally believe that gender quota is not effective. “Gender quota is a way to ensure women’s participation in political sector. It is aimed to accelerate the achievement of a balanced participation” representative of Denmark told REUTERS.
In order to empower women to have more participation and growth in sectors, the delegations suggest women and men are paid equal or having the same amount of wage. Encouraging the policy maker to involve NGOs and equal representation in policy formulation is absolutely can bring some influences to the table. Not forget to mention that collaborating with other UN bodies such as the IMF, UNICEF, etc is also a solution that should be chosen. “The equality of universal educational accessibility at affordable fee structures is an important point as well.” stated the members to REUTERS.

To ensure that conditionality on loans of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) does more harm than good to the global and economic system, the agency is strengthening its regulatory and supervisory frameworks. This is what the 95 brilliant delegates of the IMF council recommended with respect to loan-loss classification and loan restructuring of 129 member countries.
This resolution put forward by the representatives of developing countries including Kenya, Malaysia, Laos, among others, emphasized the importance of wider approach of IMF policies with little flexibility on account of their local economy, culture and environment rather than strict inclination towards western policies.
The delegates firmly believe that this possible execution could lead to lower debts without compromising the mandate of IMF to provide international monetary cooperation. Furthermore, member states would also be more responsible in allocating budgets and loans to avoid competitive exchange depreciation. They, in fact, request government of member countries to make sensible use of the funds rendered by the international organisations thereby creating a better economy and more job opportunities.
Delegates raise placards as they vote.
Additionally, the IMF delegates called on adequate infrastructure in terms of judiciary, insolvency practitioners and experts, and monitoring mechanism. It advised the role of the nation to be in proportion to its contribution to the world trade. Another part of the resolution calls upon developed member countries to support developing and underdeveloped countries in correcting their macroeconomics imbalance.
The delegates, in summary, declare accordingly that the improved IMF program will have profound impacts that include but are not limited to: decreasing illiteracy rates, economic turmoil and poverty. Sponsors of the said resolution are United Kingdom, Netherlands, South Korea, Germany, and United States of America.
On the whole, the meaty discussion and debate went smoothly with a lot of thought-provoking insights and consideration to developing countries as well as the functions of IMF.
The United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a specialized agency responsible on the enhancement and promotion of nations in the field of tourism. On the recently concluded committee session organized by the Asia World Model United Nation (AWMUN) III with the theme, “Measure to Ensure Sustainable and Environmentally Sustainable Tourism”.
Amid the frigid condition inside the committee sessions of the Asia World Mode United Nation (AWMUN) UNWTO delegation, the representatives had heated up all the way from the proposal of motions to discussions during moderated and unmoderated caucuses. 51 delegates from different countries representing distinctive councils gathered to share insights in an attempt to draft a resolution that could further aid issues faced by the UNWTO.
The tourism industry which is the responsibility of the UNWTO has several problems in each country. In general, the problems that have been presented by the delegates such as poorly maintained environmental conditions.
As those conveyed by the delegates from Ecuador, Ecuador is a country known for its large oil resources, however these resources are located in the Amazon Forest- and with the wildfire that occurred in Amazon earlier this year, the condition of the forest and its resources are currently in a poor situation.
In concluded conference, it had been agreed that— to improve the quality of tourism each country should thrive on programs that will focus on the quality of human resources of creative ideas for processing local products such as souvenirs, food and beverages; and community skill enrichment and training could be an object of promotion in the tourism industry.
In addition, the committee session came up with an an agreement to make policies that have a positive impact on the tourism industry. “Make a policy that makes people support the UNWTO things. Different countries, different issues. So that every policy is made based on norms and etiquettes in each country, ” said a delegate from Paraguay.
Policies are made so that people’s lives are better, orderly and peaceful. Tourism has a big role to play in increasing the country’s foreign exchange and opening employment for the surrounding community. This policy was made by each country specifically and focused on the tourism sector. As mentioned by a delegate from Thailand, “Because there are rules, natural resources can be maintained in our country until now. All the rules are in accordance with the objectives of the SDGs.”
“The rights of indigenous people are supported by the articles of UNDRIP,” said the
delegate of Liechtenstein. “Indigenous people are free and equal to all other people and have the right to be free from any kind of discrimination,” he continued. However, these people suffered from historic injustice such as marginalization and social exclusion. Thus, there is a need to ratify certain foreign policy to respect human rights and establish policies that would protect the environment. On the other hand, the delegate of Cuba prefers ‘extermination over submission’. Cuba defends the rights of the people to self-determination. Council continues arguing on the topics regarding countries stands on past international and legal frameworks, the progress of each countries policies to support Indigenous people’s rights and the empowerment of indigenous people in forest protection. In the unmoderated caucus, some delegates formed blocs to gather their allies and they’ve agreed on the motion to be proposed during the moderated caucus. The delegates were affirmed to tackle poverty
amongst indigenous people and also educational access.
After the four committee sessions, the delegates drafted resolutions. One of the
resolutions were sponsored by France, Columbia, and Peru with 20 signatories which calls for private sectors or non-government organization to gather volunteers who are willing to make the current situation of indigenous people known to the public for the purpose of raising awareness. Another draft resolution has been made which were sponsored by Belgium, Norway and Montenegro with 14 signatories stressing member states to recognize discrimination of all forms against indigenous people purely on the basis of their indigenous identity as a hate crime. The United Nations has committed its unwavering support to a future where all indigenous people around the world will enjoy peace, security and human rights. However, much more work remains to be done in advancing the implementation of the UNDRIP.
Indigenous peoples deserve to be treated with equal rights.
UNHCR is mandated by its Statute and the UN General Assembly Resolutions to undertake relocation as one of the three durable solutions. “The United Nations plays a very big role and this part because of course a necessary part of United Nations and of course UNHCR protect the refugees the specialize the agency for refugees and exceptionally the funding the support system UN plays a very big role in this part” delegate from Czech Republic. Refugee and migrant crises are far from insurmountable, but they cannot be addressed by states acting alone. Today, millions of refugees and migrants are being deprived of their basic rights, and the world is depriving itself of the full benefits of what refugees and migrants have to offer. Human beings have moved from place to place across the millennia, by choice and under
duress, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Only by upholding our duty to
protect those fleeing persecution and violence, and by embracing the opportunities that
refugees and migrants offer to their new societies, will we be able to achieve a more prosperous
and fairer future for all.
Human trafficking is often associated to prostitues who are dubbed as “people who sell their body” due to extreme poverty and lack of job opportunities. This further expands the sex industry which includes children as usually requested sex workers for they are ‘minors’ and are believed to have less degree of rights than what adults obtain.
