DISEC: Iran’s Nuclear Program and Its Impact to The Regional Security
Iran’s nuclear program began in the 1950s but has really slow progress. With the support and supplies from The United States, Iran concluded several nuclear technologies and developed an impressive baseline capability in nuclear technologies ever since. Through some agreements that have been signed by several parties for the development of nuclear technology, Iran has repeatedly violated the 2015 nuclear deal. Due to this situation, the regional security of the Middle East is facing a security dilemma. In the last two decades, the Iranian nuclear issue has significantly increased tension in the region and become a major problem for the international crisis. Moreover, Iran was further isolated in the regions and across the world in political aspects. The implementation of JCPOA seems to be ineffective even though it was based on hard-negotiated mutual compromises.
