SPECPOL: Assisting The Blue Helmets Peacekeeping Operation in Africa Region

The conflict resolution community seems to pursue conflict resolution efforts in Africa from a variety of purposes and interests with policies that are often replete with ambiguities and contradictions. The situation may be the reason why many African conflicts remain largely unresolved. As the main actor in the international system, The United Nations is responsible to promote peace and maintain global security stability. Through UN military personnel that are contributed by national armies from across the globe, the UN has fulfilled its obligation in maintaining global peace by sending the peacekeeping armies to the conflictual countries for military operations. UN military peacekeepers are often deployed in inhospitable, remote and dangerous environments where they face an unprecedented scale of challenges when protecting civilians, under asymmetric threats.
