UNCTAD: The Transition To The Digital World: E-commerce era
The world is at the phase of the next technological revolution, bearing transformational implications for all. Digitalization has brought a new dimension in the development of the economic sector all over the world to the new level. E-commerce has become a prominent feature of the evolving digital economy and remains hard to measure. However, digital transformations bring both opportunities and challenges for developing countries. For developing countries itself, in order to strengthen the development of e-commerce and the digital economy, policies should be addressing relevant costs and risks. Furthermore, national and international policies are needed to address the lack of ICT connectivity in many developing countries, which is an obstacle for many enterprises to compete effectively online.
