UNODC: The Protocol Against Illegal Firearms Trafficking
The illicit firearms trafficking in the world has increasingly rampant and has increased the number of crime cases in several countries. The United States of America is on the first list and followed by other countries such as Yemen, Serbia, Montenegro, Uruguay, Canada, Cyprus, Finland, Lebanon and Iceland with the highest gun ownership both legally and illegally. As a result, mass shootings have risen sharply and the death toll has reached more than 30.000. In addition, the low price of illegal firearms itself is one of the biggest factors. The use of firearms is regulated by international law and controlled by each country. However the implementation of each country in ratifying The Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime, especially those that related to the possession of illegal firearms, is still very slow.
